Regression bugs are expensive because the product used to work. The faster you connect the failure to a change window, the faster the team can protect users.
Define the regression window
Identify the last known good state and the first known bad state. Link relevant deploys, feature flags, migrations, dependency updates, and configuration changes.
Measure the blast radius
- Which plans, accounts, regions, browsers, or devices are affected?
- Is the issue blocking a core workflow?
- Is revenue, data integrity, compliance, or trust at risk?
- Is there a workaround support can safely recommend?
Preserve evidence before it disappears
Attach logs, session replays, screenshots, customer timestamps, and request identifiers. Regression evidence often gets harder to collect after rollback or hotfix work begins.
Communicate status clearly
Keep support, success, and product teams aligned on owner, severity, workaround, customer message, and expected update cadence.
